Equality in Forensics sponsors a number of national and local programs in pursuit of our mission: to provide accessible speech and debate for all.
A news publication built for debaters, by debaters. The Red Folder is led by Editor-in-Chief Lindsey Zhao, and publishes a weekly news brief and rolling news updates complete with related Extemp Questions and analysis by the nation's top debaters. We analyze the news so you can walk into rounds ready and prepared. Publishing since January 2024, the Red Folder staff has written hundreds of articles across dozens of weekly briefs.
The Pittsburgh Chapter of Equality in Forensics, PAIR is Pennsylvania's first 100% student-led effort fighting for equity in Pennsylvania forensics. They support under-resourced and underprivileged debate teams through Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania through community advocacy, testimonials, resource funding, and policy change with the Pennsylvania High School Speech League (PHSSL). Their advocacy with the PHSSL led to more accessible judging policies and a more accountable prelim structure at the Pennsylvania state speech and debate tournament.
The Arkansas Chapter of Equality in Forensics worked with the Arkansas Communication and Theatre Arts Association (the state authority on speech and debate competitions) to provide a free four-page Student Congress Guide for use within Arkansas debate tournaments. Due to specific rules within the ACTAA circuit, the guide adapts the "How a Round Works" resource with policies unique to Arkansas Student Congress, including caucuses and committees.
