Speech and debate in West Virginia is severely underdeveloped, resulting in a lack of resources, weakened forensics education, and reduced awareness about speech and debate from those in positions of authority (such as the state legislature). To tackle these issues, the West Virginia Chapter aims to uplift and amplify voices through an inclusive community that expands resource accessibility and raise awareness for the issues faced within speech and debate. By focusing on the voice of each individual competitor, they hope to ensure the wellbeing of all debaters in Appalachia.
